What is Okta?
OKTA is an immersive multi-channel sound installation whose sound and behaviour is influenced by overhead cloud cover.
It is designed in honour of Canadian activist and journalist June Callwood.

In meteorology, an okta is a unit of measurement used to describe the amount of cloud cover at any given location. An okta of 1 indicates a clear sky up to an okta 8 (or sometimes 9) which is overcast. Referencing June Callwood’s experience of flying her glider through a cloud, the artists have used this story to steer the sound and movements of OKTA.
